On Tuesday 24th April The Trussell Trust released statistics for the financial year 2017-2018. These showed a national increase of 13% in the number of emergency food parcels issued compared to the previous year.
Here at Littlehampton & District Foodbank we were surprised to discover that during this time we issued 8.6% of all West Sussex foodbank parcels, despite only representing 3.2% of the county’s area. Almost a third of our clients needed us because of low income, while a quarter of the people fed were children under the age of 16.
