Mid-Year Figures make grim reading

8th November 2016

moy-regional-breakdown-heatmap-apr-sept2016Trussell Trust has released national mid-year figures which once again show an increase in Foodbank use.  The headline figure is 519,342 three day emergency food supplies given to people in food crisis.  The Regional breakdown is shown in the image to the Right.

Issues with benefits accounted for 44% of all referrals.

Our own stats show broadly the same trend as the national figures.  April to September we gave out 604 three day supplies of food.  231 of these were for children and 373 were for adults.  Benefit changes and delays accounted for 40% of vouchers issued while low income came second at 29%

When viewing these figures it is important to remember that they have only been collated from Trussell Trust Foodbanks.  Not included are the many  independent Foodbanks and other charities which do not operate a foodbank model, working in communities around the country to combat hunger in the UK.
